
although i maybe above average in doing math,
the rubik's cube has always baffled me.
when i owned one back in grade school, i could "solve it" by dismantling the puzzle, and assembling the cube according to the color patterns.
the best i could do without cheating was get one side solved, which was next to nothing; i just didn't care for it.
so did i somehow become smarter all of a sudden?
the obvious answer is no.
this time, i cheated in a different way, via using the class notes of a professor that taught a course on the cube.
for those of you that are interested, the useful part of the link is the pdf file called "newcube", starting at chapter 4, page 19; it would be good to also read chapter 2.
